Here is why vim uses the hjkl keys as arrow keys:
When Bill Joycreated the vi text editor he used the ADM-3A terminal, which had the arrows on
hjklkeys, so naturally he reused the same keys. And that’s the whole story!

Even cooler is where the ESC key was positioned. I wish my MacBook Pro had a bigger ESC key (and no, Ctrl+[ is NOT easier, at least for me)
